Pottery on the Wheel – All Levels
     Instructor: Frans Rood
This course will teach elementary potting techniques involving throwing the basic forms and introducing Glazing and Decorating. Limited tools will be loaned during the term of the program and all supplies, glazes, and firing costs are included in the course fee.

Stained Glass     Beginner levels I & 2                    Instructor: Susan Kerr
This course is designed to teach the beginner the basics of creating a pattern, methods of scoring, breaking out, grinding, foiling and soldering coloured and textured glass. Small class size affords greater teaching time to each participant.

Dates: 8 Thursdays - starting March 22nd
Times: First and last class 7:00 - 10pm  -- all other classes 7:30 - 10:00pm

Cost: $210  (CVA Members $190)
   All tools and equipment are provided and supplies are included in the course fee.

Introduction to Weaving      Instructor: HHWS Weavers
This basic course will be very hands on, with participants weaving from day one. All will have the use of an individual table loom that you can take home to do homework! 
The course fee includes all materials and use of the looms.

Drawing - the Basics       Beginner        Instructor: Stephanie Schirm
While working mostly with still life objects - students will enhance observational skills and
learn how to draw what they see.

Dates: Fridays - starting March 23        
Times:  10:00am – noon
  
Cost:  $100 (CVA members $80) for 5 sessions or single sessions $25 each (CVA $20ea)

                          Kids &Teens
 
Intro Painting for Kids (8 to 12)    instructor – Christy Michalak
Children will work over three weeks to create one or two paintings of a favourite place, or treasured object - and so they are encouraged to bring in something that they would like to use for subject matter. Christy will act as a coach with children but always stress that they make their own decisions and truly own their painting, as she sees art lessons as a tool to build children’s confidence and have fun! Acrylic (oil also supported)

Pottery for Youth    (10 to 18)           instructor Janice Sukhiani
Learn to build Fantasy Dragons using slabs, molds, coils, and pinching. These are methods used
from ancient time to current day.

Dates: April 14, 21, May 5                   
Times:   9:30am – 11:30am  
Cost: $85

Weekend  
Mould-Making!                               Instructor - Margaret Carney
This is an introductory course to mould-making where participants will create a reusable silicone mould for their own purposes of casting wax (candles), resin, soap, plaster, Winterstone, etc. Participants will either bring a small simple shaped object they wish to replicate (natural objects, toys, vegetables, fruit, etc.) or will sculpt their own original piece with non-sulphur plasticine in class with materials provided.

Dates: Saturday April 21

Plein Air - Oil Painting              instructor Christy Michalak
This series of 3 workshops is intended to move art students from a studio painting setting to being able to finish a landscape painting in three hours, from life, and - if they like - participate in 2 Plein Air Festivals happening in Halton Hills this summer!

Plein Air 1: Taught entirely indoors, this course will introduce students to simplifying a landscape by looking at value and composition strategies for a successful plein air piece. We will work from approved  photographs, with all materials supplied by CVA to the beginning or intermediate student.
Dates: 3 Sundays April 8, 22, 29                   
Times:   1:00pm – 4:00pm

Plein Air 2: We will take our skills outside and start to evaluate real landscapes. This course will be taught in Cedarvale Park - close to the CVA cottage - so those without plein air equipment can come and try out their techniques using supplied resources.
Dates: 2 Sundays June 3, 10                   
Times:   10:00am – 4:00pm  
Cost: $100   (CVA members $90)

Plein Air 3: This course will be taught on location. Students will be provided with a material list. The course will focus on site selection, colour choices, and design for a successful plein air canvas.
Dates: Sundays July 8, 15                   
Times:   10:00am – 4:00pm

BATIK 
                                                                   Instructor: Stephanie Schirm
If watercolour techniques inspire you, this may be a workshop that will take you on a similar, yet different journey. Just bring your creativity, a favorite photo, and your knowledge - whether limited or extensive - of watercolour painting. This two day workshop, for all levels, touches on colour theory, and techniques to paint beautiful still life, landscapes, and floral images - with fabric dyes. Students will be lead in a step-by-step experience.

Fix-It Day        Beginner - Intermediate        instructor Christy Michalak
Do you have artwork sitting in a naughty pile (or basement!) in the house? Paintings that were great ideas but that got stuck? Come out for this session to find out how they can be resuscitated - and fix them on the spot. Christy will help with drawing or compositional errors, colour and value problems, or ideas for how to add that special spark. Later we’ll share what we learned
with the class so everyone can learn from the roadblocks that trip us all up!

Collage - Paper, Texture, Paint!                       Instructor: Stephanie Schirm
This class touches on the Principles and Elements of design, while Students experiment with techniques of negative painting, building, removing, and colour theory.  In addition an array of tools from paper towel, fingers, palette knife will be utilized to create brilliant abstracted images of figures, landscapes, floral, etc.       
Medium: Acrylic paints    Note: all material costs included in fee.

* All courses are held at Cedarvale Cottage in Cedarvale Park located at the corner of Main Street & Maple Avenue in Georgetown - UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.

* Registration to fill classes will be in order that fees are paid.

* Registration deadline is one week before the course starts - but check to see if extension is available.

* All courses are subject to cancellation if the registration minimum is not reached one week prior to the start date.

* No refund will be given once the course starts.

* A full refund less a $20.00 admin. fee will be given to registrants canceling no later than two weeks before the course begins.

* Any additional supply fees indicated will be paid to the instructor at the first class.
