Drum-Making

Overview:

An authentic Native Canadian drum-making workshops will be held Sunday Nov 17, 2013 with Native Elder Anthony Templer of St. Joseph Island in Northern Ontario. It will start at 9:00am and is usually completed by 4:30pm. The cost is dependent on the size of drum that you would like to make.

Along with the drum making - you will hear the tales of First Nations of Ontario, learn about their customs, and take part in traditional native singing.

It is vital that you register at least one week in advance as Anthony has to make the drum forms and soak the deerskin hides for a few days before the session.

              10" Drum -   $  120.00

              12" Drum -   $  130.00

              14" Drum -   150.00                

              16" Drum -   $  170.00

Moccasin Making -    Fall 2014

Overview:

Make an authentic pair of deerskin moccasins. It will start at 9:00am and will be completed by 4:00pm.

Karen will tell the stories of First Nations of Ontario and their customs, and you will have the chance to take part in traditional native singing. .

Dates:   One day to make a pair of moccasins -  Saturday November 15, 2014

Times:   9:00 am - 4:00 pm 

Cost:     Members:  $ 100    Non-Members:  $ 110 
                           costs include HST

Note:     Kits are available to make extra moccasins after course is completed.


Optional - We are having a potluck lunch - bring something to share if you like!

Introductory Beadwork 
Fall 2014

Overview:

Learn basic stitches as you make a beaded leather medicine pouch to fill with traditional herbs and tokens.

Karen will tell the stories of First Nations of Ontario and their customs, and you will have the chance to take part in traditional native singing. .

Dates:   Friday November 14th, 2014. One evening to make a beaded medicine pouch or - if you have signed up for the moccasin-making course - you can make the beadwork for your moccasins. 


Times:   6:30pm - 9:30 pm 

Cost:     Members:  $ 45    Non-Members:  $ 50 
                           costs include HST
